Best Quality Output format when ripping Cds?

Post by akoun24 » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:01 pm

Hello,

I've been ripping my cd collection on my computer with Max.
I just played a ripped file and its cd version and the cd version is still sounds better quality-wise (more detailed, more present, more everything)
I use the WAVE format (linear PCM) at 16bit.

What format can I use the get as close as possible to cd quality without any loss?

Thanks

Audio CD is 16-bit 44.1 KHz. You cannot improve upon this by ripping at some higher setting.

Are you playing back the CD and the ripped file in two different ways? For example, CD through a CD player vs. ripped file through your computer's internal DAC would give very different results.

Sorry for the delay...

The ripped file is stored in the internal hardrive of my macbook and is played via quicktime
and the cd is in the computer's cd player and then played also via quicktime.
