Put ripped FLACs into nested folders?

Post by jaynyc » Sat Oct 28, 2006 4:11 am

So when I rip a CD, I rip to FLAC. Each track is a FLAC file. They all get exported to my main top level MUSICFOLDER. What I want to do is to somehow automagically put them in this taxonomy:

MUSICFOLDER/Artist/Album/thefilesIrip.flacs

How do I tell MAX to do this?

Right now, I have to manually create the Album folder, and Artist folder if a new artist, then manually drag the 15 ripped FLAC files into this subfolder structure.

Thanks

Do you currently use a custom naming format? If not, try this:
In the Preferences, under Output, select 'Specify filenames for output'. Set the format string to: {discArtist}/{discTitle}/{trackTitle} or something similar.

This string will place your files named "Track number Track title" inside a folder "Album name" inside a folder "Artist name" in your destination folder:

{diskArtist}/{diskTitle}/{trackNumber} {trackTitle}

Note the slashes in the file path.

If the folders do not yet exist, they will be automatically created.

I suppose you can now figure out for yourself how to achieve different naming schemes.
