bitrate bug & a suggestion

converting an aiff or any other format to m4a with the pref set to cbr 128kbps results in the correct (I think) file output, but the file info shows 16kbps, which is obviously not correct.

secondly, a suggestion to have all the converting finish before starting the encoding, as they both seem to slow to a crawl when working simultaneously.

Hopefully the converter/encoding balancing in 0.5.3 helps with this problem. It isn't exactly what you described but functions in a similar fashion.
