so i've set Max up to rip my CDs as a single file and generate a .CUE file... the only problem is that i don't get any .CUE files. are the .CUE files saved in a location other than with the audio files? if so, where? if not, what am i doing wrong?

Currently Max only generates cuesheets for certain formats- which format are you encoding to?

Right now the supported cue sheet formats are:
  • MP3
  • Wave
  • AIFF
FLAC cue sheets are supported, but they are written to the FLAC file as a CUESHEET metadata block vs. an actual cue sheet file.

I chose these formats according to the cue sheet "spec" at http://developer.berlios.de/docman/disp ... up_id=2130.

Does anyone think I should deviate from the standard and allow cue files for FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, etc?

PLEASE ADD SUPPORT FOR CUE SHEETS FOR FLAC!!!!!
flac is very quickly becomming the new standard for LOTS of people...implementing this is vital to many people.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

Can Max transcode from monolithic image+CUE --> tagged tracks? Currently, when I have a Monkey APE image, I do this:
Max (APE->aif) --> [gVIM (correct the CUE sheet/FILE)] --> xACT (shnsplit & FLAC) --> Tag (tag FLAC tracks) --> Max (transcode w/tags and rename tracks with tag info)

I haven't tested any FLAC, MP3 (why transcode MP3?), or WAV images with Max to see if Max supports splitting, tagging, & transcoding them in one run. (If Max does this with those formats--I read CUE sheets are supported on output for those formats--I assume APE/CUE combos are eventually coming, too; I simply didn't know if Max did this for any format.)

Max currently only supports cue sheets for output- I am working on cue splitting support, but it is in the pre-alpha stages currently. I envision something like the CD windows with each track of the cue listed in a table somewhere. Any ideas on a potential interface would be appreciated.

cue-splitter has a slick interface, might be worth a look:

as always, thanks, Stephen!
