Metadata in AIFF

Post by arrakian » Fri Apr 14, 2006 4:02 am

I read where WAV files in Max won't accept metadata; can the AIFF files be made to do so? I got used to having this when ripping in iTunes, and would like it to happen in Max.

Also, thanks for something comparable to EAC on the Mac:)

To be honest, I don't know how iTunes tags the AIFF files. I did a fair amount of googling and research and didn't come up with much. I think iTunes uses ID3 tags, but I'm not even sure which version (I'll look into it). iTunes may even save the metadata to its file database vs. in the AIFF file.

To answer the question though, no, right now Max does not support any AIFF metadata. It should be possible to add all the metadata to iTunes using AppleScript but it would likely be a bear!

If I'm not mistaken, iTunes uses ID3 tags, and they are saved to the file. I have a 'Commodores' comp I did in iTunes that shows the info when I play it in my car. If I rip in bias Peak, and input metadata with iTunes, it displays also.
