Itunes EQ Presets

Post by ylandsman » Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:21 pm

Is there any way to access the Itunes presets from within play? Searched around but couldn't find where Itunes stores them, and I'd rather not have to create them manually.

Does Play use the EQ settings of iTunes?

Play uses Apple's equalizer audio unit (or any other AU with that functionality, but I assume we are talking about the graphic eq here), and the presets it stores are specific to that audio unit. I'm not sure what iTunes uses or how it stores the presets (I did some non-productive googling on the topic), but I don't believe they are compatible.

OK, that lost me. Interesting that this thread just came up as just yesterday I was playing something in Play through Airfoil and my system. One particular selection (originally old reel-to-reel) was way too hissy and went to turn down the treble. Trouble is I was in another section of the house and had to go to the stereo. Is there some way to control EQ stuff with Play?

Yes, go to Preferences, open the DSP tab, and then click the '+' and select AUGraphicEQ. Then double-click AUGraphicEQ in the list of configured effects and tweak away.
