Re: Rip officially now abandon ware?

Fair enough. I was responding more to the implication that, as Rip and Max development appears to have been halted for nearly 4.5 years, a forkable Github repo constitutes a formal announcement that you won't be working any further on them.

Rip officially now abandon ware?

I see the corner banner announcing a forkable repo on github.

Re: HDCDs

Are there still many HDCD releases nowadays? If I recall correctly, Audio Fidelity uses it. Quite a few of Rhino's remasters use it. Some recording companies are already selling plain 24 bit FLAC. The question is whether these are genuine 24-bit recordings or mere upsampled 16-bit originals. I woul...

Re: HDCDs

Your FLAC rip still contains HDCD coding. What you need more than ripping to 24-bit FLAC is a player that will decode HDCD.

Does Decibel decode HDCD?

I have a fair number of ALAC-encoded rips from HDCD-encoded discs.

Re: Track Titles do not convert

That always worked for me. Are you certain the FLAC files contain said metadata? Max will ignore filenames when converting.

sbooth wrote:I never quite got PPC64 support working, sadly, but in any case I use a bunch of calls that are only available on i386/x86_64/ppc64.
So it works on both 32- and 64-bit x86, but not 64-bit PPC? The obvious conclusion is you have an endianness bug in your code.

Re: Is there ever going to be a new verion of Play?

Check out http://sbooth.org/AyreWave/ . It's the logical successor to Play and the reason why I haven't had time to work on Play during the last year. I don't see AyreWave mentioned anywhere on sbooth.org other than that link, nor does it have a subforum here. Perhaps some housekeeping is in order?...

So have I, though I've also been using Max to do some FLAC->ALAC conversions. XLD updates have been sporadic too, but there are updates.

I noticed you're all running Intel Macs. It seems to run fine on my iMac G5.

Re: Does Play handle HDCD encoded discs?

High Definition Compatible Digital

You can identify an HDCD disc by the HDCD logo Image somewhere on the back cover. If you have an extensive CD collection, or know somebody who does, there's a good chance you/they have at least one HDCD disc.

Does Play handle HDCD encoded discs?

Or more precisely, decode HDCD information present from ripped images of disks?

How does Rip improve on CDparanoia rippers?

Like XLD. Better extraction algorithms, more efficient encoders, what?
