After Max/what are the alternatives?

Since the development of Max has ceased (is there an "official" statement about this somewhere?), what are the alternatives? I currently use Foobar 2000 on a Windows PC I have for the tasks Max can't handle (e.g., 24-bit tracks) but it would be more convenient with a program for my Mac since it is m...

Re: File permission error? (mp3 encoding)

If you uncheck iTunes -> Add output files to iTunes library you can avoid this problem (but then you have to manually add the encoded tracks). However, it is very annoying and should be fixed. My naming string looks like this: {discArtist}/{discTitle}/{trackNumber}. {trackTitle}.{fileFormat} Max 0.6.1 Btw, is it possible to use Gracenote/CDDB rather than...

Re: LAME VMR truncates in iTunes. Bad VBR distribution.

Doesn't the predefined setting "Encoder Quality: Transparent" produce VBR files within the -V2 range? Isn't transparent supposed to be exactly -V 2/-preset standard? I have never had any regular problems with truncated tracks when I have used lame (3.8 and up) and iTunes/iPod. What happens if you r...
