Re: Poll: Feature priorities

Maxlover, that's a great idea. My thought was similar to yours, but would use a separate window. Same general concept though. Here's the problem I see: Just where do you stop? I certainly don't want a swiss knife application, à la iTunes, that can rip, convert, organize the files on disk, get, corr...

Re: Poll: Feature priorities

Managing my FLAC files, editing metadata, quick startup with all my songs permanently loaded, separate window for song selection . . . all these features are very important to me. So I vote for library management. As a matter of fact, I'm still using Play. In my particular setup, Decibel is to cumb...

Re: Creating and converting multiple CUE sheets

In my experience it seems that there is a lot of track-specific metadata that can be lost when ripping to a single file + cue. It is true that, if one follows the strict definition of cue sheets, there is no room in there to put some of the metadata. However, there is a unformally agreed-upon usage...

Opening a .cue pointing to a FLAC

Just a question: is Play supposed to be able to open a .cue file pointing to a FLAC file ? When I try this, it generally fails, except once in while (say less than one file out of ten). Those cue files open perfectly well with XLD, so they must not be too invalid. There is no message at the console....

Re: Lacking Cue Sheet & File Naming

Would you mind to share your script with us ? I would like to have external cue sheets with meta data. thanks a lot. No problem. It's a Q&D hack I wrote for myself, so usage is at your own risk. To install: just as described here: http://sbooth.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1999 To use: when a dis...

Re: Lacking Cue Sheet & File Naming

It is indeed regrettable that, when putting a cue sheet inside a FLAC file, Max does not ALSO write a regular, detached cue file in the same directory as that FLAC file. It is not as if this would be awfully expensive, or as if new code would have to be written, since Max does write such a cue file ...

Re: FLAC+cue reading in Max: not yet fully polished

Are there any messages printed to the console log? Thank you four your reply. After starting Max, and then opening the problematic FLAC file, there is only: 2008-03-16 08:46:23.378 Max[983] *** Illegal NSTableView data source (<FileArrayController: 0x11a77c0>[object class: NSMutableDictionary, numb...

Hi, I don't know how others are using the application, but I do use it to do different things at different times, like ripping a CD to FLAC, converting between encodings and now splitting files. Each time, different preferences from different panes must be changed because the encoding used, the dest...

Re: FLAC+cue reading in Max: not yet fully polished

Hi, I am still trying to find an explanation to the failure to open the cdinfo file for some FLAC 'disk images', but I have a hard time... For a given disk: - if I insert the actual CD, the cdinfo file is found and opened, which means that the file is present and correctly named. - if I open the FLA...

Re: FLAC+cue reading in Max: not yet fully polished

Really nice : I can keep my 'originals' as FLAC files with cue, and in a very short time produce individual files in any format, with all the metadata from the cdinfo 'repository'. Cheers.. Nevertheless (you said 'all feedback') : - it does not always work. I tried to open 40 recently encoded FLAC f...

Re: FLAC+cue reading in Max: not yet fully polished

Anything new on this subject ? I still have almost 1000 CDs, ripped in FLAC [single file with cue], whose carefully edited metadata is contained in an equal number of .cdinfo files only, and cannot currently be used in any useful way...

Re: Encoding flac & ape files as separate tracks using cue sheet

The correct way to open a file is sometimes tricky to find. Double-click on a FLAC with embedded cue, and it opens for conversion. Open the same file with the 'Open' Menu item, and it opens a track information window. Drag it to the application icon, and... sorry, I forgot what happens in this case....

FLAC+cue reading in Max: not yet fully polished

Since november, Max is able to open a multitrack file using a cue sheet. When opening the file, a disk information window appears, which is exactly what one would expect. Unfortunately, what happens next is not yet as useful as it could be. If Max was used to produce the file and cue on the same mac...

Re: Play FAQ?

I would love to hear your experiences; Play has not been tested with libraries of that size! My personal library is only around 5,000 tracks but Play seems to handle it fairly well once it is up and running. I ripped 960 albums, using Max and saving as single-file FLAC with cue. Total volume is 278...
