Re: Understanding sample rate changes with Decibel and DACs.

I tested that Michael Jackson thing for you. I have the HDTracks download in 24/176. My setup is an iMac via USB to a Musical Fidelity V-DAC II, with a maximum transfer rate of 96KHz. Decibel sets the transfer rate to 88KHz and downsamples the track accordingly. Here are relevant log extracts: <Info...

Re: Sample rate changes in spite of preferences setting

As I understand it this is what happens: 1. If you check the option, Decibel will adjust the DAC's transfer rate to send the file in the best quality possible (in most cases, the exact file resolution, in some edge cases, as close as possible with software resampling) 2. If you uncheck the option, D...

Re: Sample rate changes in spite of preferences setting

Thanks, yes, I realized that as I was typing my reply. Having the setting in the "Output Device Options" should have clued me in ... what a knucklehead!

Re: Sample rate changes in spite of preferences setting

What I expected was that Decibel would transmit the file to the DAC at 44.1 and the DAC would do the upsampling to 24/192. I thought that when I set the "adjust sample rate" preference to "off", the music would not be upsampled or downsampled by Decibel before sending it to the DAC, but instead the ...

Sample rate changes in spite of preferences setting

I'm seeing that Decibel changes the sample rate in spite of having set the preference for no sample rate adjustment. I'm attaching a log file that shows the issue. This happens with M4A, FLAC, etc. The Musical Fidelity is an upsampling DAC so I'd prefer to have the upsampling happen in the DAC.

Re: Transitioning from iTunes to Decibel

You can convert them from FLAC to ALAC (Apple lossless) to get them into iTunes with no quality loss. You can use Steve's own Max software for that, or XLD.

Re: Decibel stops playing at end of 24/88 files

I upgraded to Mountain Lion and since then I am unable to consistently reproduce the problem. This weekend I'll test it on my other Mac which is still on Lion. I'll let you know.

Yes, I use a Musical Fidelity V-DAC II. Will do the requested testing tonight and let you know.

Decibel stops playing at end of 24/88 files

I have a few 24/88 FLAC files that will cause Decibel to stop and not move to the next song when it reaches the end of the song. It shows the progress bar at the full time of the track, does not stop playing, does not move to the next track. Does not happen in every one but enough that it will happe...
