Re: How does Rip improve on CDparanoia rippers?

The paranoia rippers are invariably derived from the CDparanoia ripper. As Steven suggests the paranoia algorithm uses re-reading techniques to detect ripping errors. Older versions were tripped up by (large) modern drive caches, which various people/distributions tried to patch. The most recent sta...

Re: flac metadata and cue sheets

[…]However, when I tried it, just to make sure, there was no metadata preserved...it just lists "track 01, track 02" etc. Is there something I need to enable in the Rip preferences to embed metadata or is it not possible as of yet? Embedding trac metadata in a single-file FLAC album is problematic....

Flac metadata

Hi, I just noticed that when ripping to a FLAC image quite a lot of metadata is embedded, with the exception of MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMID. Would it be possible to have this in there as well? For the record, I have the following: ALBUM ALBUMARTIST DATE TRACKTOTAL DISCNUMBER DISCTOTAL REPLAYGAIN_REFERENCE_L...

Rip 1.0b3 - End of rip crash

Hi, I just downloaded 1.0b3 and tried to rip a CD. (Ripping to FLAC. No MB data for the CD.) It crashed either after finishing or very close to the end; it might have been verifying audio. (I have FLAC files for all tracks on my filesystem, and they verify as fine with flac -t .) The app was ripping...

Mid-rip crashes (b2, 64-bit)

I downloaded b2 this morning and tried to rip two CDs. Both to FLAC, using the "Copy Image" toolbar action. In both cases Rip died after some tracks had been done. I can't find the rip logs that people speak of, but do have both crash logs. Crash 1: Process: Rip [22641] Path: /Applications/Rip.app/C...

Fixed with Max 7?

I noticed this with some pre-Max7 builds, and suspect it was related to the 'Delete source files after encoding' preference, which I had cleared. I think the encoding stage was treating the temporary .caf files from the ripper stage as source files and not cleaning them up. With Max 7, I no longer s...

Musicbrainz tags

First of all, I'd like to say that I think it's a major plus point that Max now works with MusicBrainz. However, it would be even better if the MUSICBRAINZ_* ids were included in the tags for those formats that support it. Information on these tags can be found in the MusicBrainz Wiki . I understand...

Re: Errors when decoding Flac files with artwork from Max 7

I will have to play around and see if flac 1.1.3 works with Max-generated FLACSs, and go from there. While you're at it, I've also noticed that even when the FLAC files are playable, the MD5 hash recorded in the header is incorrect. This I've verified with the same versions of flac that I mentioned...

Re: Errors when decoding Flac files with artwork from Max 7

I am getting Errors while decoding FLACS encoded with Max v7. ... Anyone run into this? I can confirm this. With album art, the FLAC files are corrupt. Without it, they're fine. My error message is slightly different, but flac 1.1.1 (fink), flac 1.1.2 (Ubuntu/amd64) and flac 1.1.3 (Ubuntu/amd64) al...
